Ok, so I signed up for RawSugar, created an account, and started submitting some URLs. I've used Digg for awhile and recently starting using Reddit, but I haven't really explored the social bookmarking services. Delicious seems to be the biggest, with StumbleUpon being a runner up. I saw RawSugar from Add This's widget off of TechCrunch. I see these new bookmarking services as opportunities to get in on the service early and become an early adopter.
Sounds good so far ... (more...)
Recently, Judy (Mom) came back from a spiritual retreat. A lot of it focused on what messages mother Earth is giving to us (mankind). We had written this ambient track a while ago (last September) and shelved it because it didn't fit the artistic vision of “Mimi & Teft”. When Judy got back, she was inspired by all these messages from Earth and had the perfect set of lyrics for this nearly forgotten song, titled “This Old Heart”. Take a listen ...

I wanted to share some of my favorite music videos for electronic music. Some are for the graphics, some style, some concept, but all of them because I love the music.
That video is so funny ... puts a smile on my face everytime!

I'm amazed at what composers have created for the silver screen in the past 100 years. Mimi and I just recently scored a short film (about 30min) in Logic Pro. Wow! It feels like technology is a blessing and a curse. Being able to hear the score instantly is amazing. You make edits super quick, obvious issues stand out within seconds, and your options are virtually unlimited.
In some ways, having no synthesizers to work with could promote inspiration. I've always felt that limiting my tool set for a given session helps create inspiration. Why? Because I'm not over whelmed with hundreds of plugins and sonic choices!
In continuation of my gear sluttiness, I start to foam at the mouth over the new Canon camera bodies (specifically the new Canon EOS 1D Mark III). I just looked at Amazon.com and saw that one of there third party sellers is now selling the new cameras!! Whoo hooo! But ..... I've read a lot of stories around the net.

I'm to the point now, where Logic Pro hasn't crashed in a long time. I'm sure it has to do with configuration, hardware, and plugins ... but man, why would I stick an OS upgrade into a machine that's doing exactly what it's suppose to!
I just recently read about a lot of people having difficulties with the latest OSX 10.4.10 upgrade. It's creating pops, snaps, and crackles in the audio lines!!! AHH!! That's a musicians nightmare (especially an engineer!) I remember days being incredibly frustrated with my equipment, because of crashes, config issues, etc. Why would I change anything now?? I've been slowly adding my Death Valley pictures to Flickr over the week. I had three days in the park (broken up over 5 days) and I was blown away by the beauty! It's an amazing place, you can see for miles across the valley floor and the mountain ranges are as unique as an alien world.
The first day was nice ... 70's ... nice cloud cover to accent photos. We stopped by Zabriskie Point and I filled the camera full of photo's. I took wide angle, standard, telephoto ... everything but macro shots. The clouds were amazing, perfect accents to the landscape. The lighting could have been better (it was around 3:30pm or so), but I'll take what I can get
I was "digging" today and found out about this photo editing tool called "Picnik". It's completely Flash based (from what I can tell) and allows you to do basic post processing of photos. Control the white balance, saturation, contrast, exposure, sharpness, etc. Pretty cool. To the left is a picture from Death Valley at Zabriskie Point that I took last May, edited in Picnik! They've also got a feature to edit your Flickr photos (or any public Flickr photo). Even better!

Ever since Mimi and I went to Miami I've been loving that electro sound. Hearing it in the clubs was tight! So I thought, why not make an electro-ish beat? Cool. Then I thought, instead of relying on drum samples in things like Stylus RMX, make the beat out of Logic's own synths (ES1, ES2)! Below is a sample of the full beat (with a bassline using Vanguard).
I gotta say, I've been using StumbleUpon for last three or four days and I'm impressed. I've "stumbled upon" more time-eaters than EVER before! But it really makes me think: Why would I come back?! I go to google to find/research info. I go to slashdot for some tech news (and digg). But what would I go to stumbleupon for?
